Fred Mortagne
Fred Mortagne is a French photographer and filmmaker based in Lyon. Self-taught, he has been developing a distinctive visual language since the 1990s, closely connected to skateboarding, architecture and urban space. Working primarily in black and white, his photography is characterised by graphic, geometric compositions in which lines, light and movement reveal a poetic and often enigmatic dimension of the city.

Echoes of Form
Certain forms seem to travel across time and borders. Curves, angles, volumes carved by light: architectures separated by decades and thousands of kilometres echo one another with a strange sense of inevitability.
In Cadaqués, which Fred Mortagne has photographed for many years, these correspondences are everywhere: in the simplicity of the volumes, the purity of the lines, and that distinctly Mediterranean way of allowing light to shape space as much as matter.
The works of Le Corbusier, Oscar Niemeyer and Zaha Hadid thus resonate with those of Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert and Italian architect Lanfranco Bombelli, who, together with Peter Harnden, profoundly shaped the modernist revival of Cadaqués from the late 1950s onward.
