Jérémy Appert is a photographer whose work explores the relationships between landscape, memory, and territory. Through a sensitive and contemplative approach, he focuses on the traces left by history, the transformation of places, and the ways in which they shape our perception. His practice combines documentary observation with a strong visual sensibility, creating images in which reality often takes on a quieter, more poetic dimension.

During the summer, groups of young people challenge one another by jumping from ever greater heights into the Mediterranean, despite the waves, the wind, and the danger. Jérémy Appert photographs this space of confrontation, where the body measures itself against the elements, gravity, and its own limits.
This search for vertigo echoes what sociologist Roger Caillois called ilinx: the desire to break, for a brief moment, with the stability of the world and experience a form of imbalance, trance, and freedom.
Suspended between fear and exhilaration, these young people dive into the unknown as if taking part in a self-determined rite of passage. In contact with water, light, and emptiness, the jump becomes at once a challenge, a surrender, and an attempt to regain a sense of control over an uncertain future.
